This week I started work on a new web design project, just as one of my recent web projects went live. I was so foolishly resistant to accepting web design projects at first, but after dipping my toes in a few times, I can finally say that while I have a ton to learn, I like it! I like i! Knowing that every new project is an opportunity to push myself to learn something new has been very motivational for me. And while some projects are like explosive-learning-curve-avalanches… learning is happening over here, in a good way, I promise.
I’m also wrapping up work on a new Skill Exchange video, which I’m hoping to share publicly soon. I’ve been collaborating with a few professional partners on this project, since video-editing falls way outside of my own skill set. The footage for the video was shot back in September, and after a few bumps in the road we’re so so close to having a finished video. If all goes to plan we’ll be recording audio this weekend, and putting this baby out into the world soon. I’m excited to share the results of the last few weeks of edits, revisions, excitement but also general fretting over this new venture.
In a slightly different, weird, and surprising turn, I’ve accepted an invitation to travel to New Mexico in February to speak at a university about my work, experiments, and experience as a designer-craft-activist. I’ll be stepping out of my comfort zone a bit with this new venture, but as I said before, every new project is a chance to learn something new. So here I go! tickets are booked, slides and images are being collected, and courage is bubbling up all over the place. 2013 is going to be a weird and good one guys.

yay! new adventures promise new energy!
