m p k music: Pop Weirdo or Pop Genius?

Intern here. This week I’ve been listening to Ariel Pink’s latest album, Before Today. I’m not too familiar with his previous releases, but I’m liking the nostalgic pop flavor of the music.

Ariel Pink has been putting out music since the early 2000s, and Before Today is the first studio album marking his departure from the lo-fi recordings from before. Here is the single, Round and Round, that got me interested in this band. Have a listen, and tell me if this doesn’t remind you of a classic from 1984.
